Condé Nast is looking for an experienced and professional Web Director to oversee the editorial operations of WWD.com. This person needs to be equal parts editor and web producer, and be comfortable in both roles.
Specific duties include:
- Manage a small day and evening staff as well as freelance producers to provide 24/7 online news coverage
- Oversee all content programming throughout the day and night including home page touts, breaking news, daily postings, newsletters, videos, Tweets and blogs
- Ensure the proper building, tagging and promotion of all content from the daily newspaper and all WWD supplements and magazines
- Work closely with online staff to promote best practices in regard to headline writing, internal linking, tagging and SEO
- Monitor daily, weekly and monthly traffic reports to better position content for increased page views and uniques
- Work with front and back-end developers on fixes, enhancements, and testing for the site
- Plan and prioritize all editorial enhancements and templates including spec requirement gathering, UI planning and design development
- Work with Conde Nast PR, syndication and marketing to promote online content through blog blasts and PR outreach
- Coordinate the online coverage of all major fashion collection seasons in all cities, working with U.S., European and Asian staff for timely and comprehensive posting and hand-offs between time zones
- Work with outside video producers for year-round video coverage including collections and WWD events (scheduling, coordinating shoots with proper editorial and event contacts, editorial reviews of video edits, posting and promoting.)
Qualifications:
- At least 8-10 years of editorial experience, including experience managing staff
- At least 2-3 years of website editorial production experience
- Proven track record of sound editorial judgment
- Facility with SEO
