Business Manager

Condé Nast is seeking a professional and polished Business Manager for one of its iconic women's brands.  The Business Manager reports to the Director of Finance & Business Operations and assists in establishing and managing the advertising, marketing and promotion budgets, delivers financial analyses and monthly, weekly and ad hoc reports to sales management and manages any other special projects that might be assigned.
 
Qualified candidates will be skilled in Admarc/Repgen reporting and account list management.  We are seeking a highly organized professional who is proficient in record keeping /archiving pertinent information to magazine performance.  Financial management experience(revenue projection) is a plus. Copy Editor - Glamour

Condé Nast is looking for an experienced and professional Copy Editor for Glamour.
 
Primary Responsibilities/Objectives:
  • Copyediting all Glamour content for clarity, grammar, in-house style, and general Glamour tone
  • Proofreading all content
  • Inputting editorial changes and reviewing changes in InCopy and on page, and ensuring that copy fits correctly
  • Working with editors, fact-checkers, and production to finalize pages
  • Resolving queries in InCopy and on proofs
  • Working daily with online content management system to proofread Glamour.com

Technical Director of Digital Projects - The New Yorker

Condé Nast is seeking a Technical Director of Digital Projects for The New Yorker. 

The technical director will have lead responsibility for production of The New Yorker magazine in digital formats, including existing extensions (XML, Web, tablet, e-reader, and digital-replica editions), one-time projects (apps, E-books), and all future projects on new platforms.

Primary Job Duties
  • Partnering with editors, web staff, IT and the CNP dig-mag group to develop new modes of digital distribution for the magazine and its repurposed content
  • Take the lead in matching new technologies with editorial projects that are on the digital drawing board
  • Conceptualize, execute and supervise digital product production as well as ongoing integration of new digital processes into the larger (digital) workflow of the magazine.
Additional responsibilities include
  • Technical oversight of the print magazine's weekly production cycle
  • Technical training of new hires and interns
  • Management of the department's conversion to new workflows, system upgrades, templates, applications and automation through scripting
  • Management of the magazine's electronic archive and digital preservation strategy
  • Daily management of the print-to-web production process
The technical director will report to the head of editorial production.
Requirements
  • Advanced understanding of electronic publishing (XML, HTML) and digital asset management
  • Complete fluency with Indesign, Filemaker Pro, Applescript, Photoshop, Illustrator

Marketing Director/Associate Director - Bon Appetit

Bon Appétit is looking for a seasoned marketing professional to join our NY team. This position is responsible for initiating/executing marketing activities and strategies, presentations and research to increase revenue and grow market share across a broad range of categories for the Bon Appétit brand (both print and digital).  The ideal candidate will be able to think creatively and strategically, have strong analytical and "story-telling" skills and the ability to create compelling presentations and sales materials.  A demonstrated ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding environment is essential.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage, analyze and package research data to support and augment advertising sales, document print and digital advertising effectiveness and provide strategic marketing research insights
  • Work closely with the management team to develop sales strategies for key areas of business
  • Manage the analysis and reporting of all syndicated research results (MRI, MMR, Vista etc.)
  • Create/update presentations, sell sheets, mailers and other tools to support advertising sales efforts across a variety of categories
  • Manage reader panel research projects from inception to fieldwork through packaging of results
Required Skills/Experience
  • 8 to 10 years of magazine or agency marketing/research experience; digital experience a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of advertising sales and media research sources (e.g. MMR, MRI, Starch, Vista, PIB/TNS; ComScore, NetViews etc.)
  • Ability to synthesize research and information from myriad sources to create compelling presentations and sales materials
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word; knowledge of Custom Show a plus
  • Strong writing, presentation and project management skills

Director/Associate Director, Consumer Business Development

Condé Nast is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for its Consumer Business Development (CBD) team.  The Director/Associate Director will map the full set of strategic options for brands to grow new lines of consumer revenue, work with brand leadership to develop business plans for priority initiatives, vet proposals from prospective partners, and develop and launch strategies and metrics to track and ensure ongoing success.
 
The Consumer Business Development team will equally be responsible for identification and development of revenue-generating platforms and external strategic partnerships that multiple brands can draw upon in the execution of brand strategies. The CBD team will coordinate activities with all necessary stakeholders; working with the brands to define goals, business needs and requirements. The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise or ability to tap into same to leverage and/or build out these capabilities.
 
 Responsibilities
  • Work with individual brands to identify range of potential brand growth initiatives and vet them rapidly to establish portfolio of initiatives
  • Work with senior leadership to identify capability gaps
  • Develop full business cases for most promising ideas
  • Identify and secure partners or subject matter experts where appropriate
  • Apply approved screening criteria to vet partner proposals
  • Active participation and involvement in launch of initiatives overseeing project management if the project or brand skill gap warrants
  • Work with brands to create execution plans for pilot projects, including identification of all activities necessary to bring product to market
  • Work with functional departments as necessary to determine appropriate execution model (e.g., build or partner; marketing approach)
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with all functional departments and marshal appropriate resources to advance the development of brand plans and bring to market activities
  • Identify, develop and implement large strategic partnerships
  • Investigate and develop new marketing channels - including clubs, banks and other opportunities that leverage our brand and editorial assets
  • Identify and champion the development of digital products and capabilities needed to execute on brand plans, including creating business cases
 
 Qualifications 
  • Mix of vision and execution - strong project/product management skills, driving forward motion across several teams, in a matrixed organization to achieve desired outcomes
  • Business acumen: strong understanding of business drivers and leverage points, financial analysis
  • Ability to vet potential projects for scale/ROI
  • Ability to look for external capabilities to meet project requirement, if needed
  • Ability to gather and interpret business intelligence on marketplace and market sizing, competitors, etc.

Fitness Editor - Self
