Account Manager - Fairchild Books

Fairchild Books publishes, and is considered the industry leader, in fashion and interior design disciplines. The Account Manager position will promote and sell Fairchild Books products and services to the higher education market. Our customers are faculty and administrators who adopt Fairchild textbooks, and bookstores who purchase our books. Our primary markets are the higher education 4-year, 2-year and for-profit institutions. Specific job responsibilities include:
  • Generate new and repeat sales (adoptions) to existing and new customers based on the instructor's course requirements
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales quotas while increasing customer satisfaction by providing product and support information in a timely manner
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions
  • Recommend alternate products based on instructor need, course requirements, and Fairchild promotions and services
  • Manage an assigned geographical territory via phone and email contact
  • Plan for 2-3 account worktrips per semester and possible offsite conference participation
  • Maintain assigned territory database
  • Accurately process customer transactions such as adoption, bookstore and sample requests
  • Have a thorough understanding and educate customers about Fairchild Books product features and benefits
Some sales experience is preferred.  Strong preference give to Higher Education Publishing experience.

Fashion Merchandising Director

We're looking for an experienced Fashion Merchandising Director for one of our amazing brands! 

The Fashion Merchandising Director is responsible for developing, writing, and executing custom merchandising proposals and integrated, multi-platform marketing programs that meet the needs of advertisers in order to generate paging and meet revenue goals. Categories include American Fashion, Surf/Skate/Sport, Accessories, and Urban Fashion. The Director is also responsible for overseeing the Senior Merchandising Manager on all Retail, Teen Fashion, and Denim accounts.
 
The Fashion Merchandising Director should be a team player with a client service orientation who will work effectively with the sales, marketing, and merchandising staffs.
 
Superior verbal and written communication, presentation and managerial skills are essential. Proficiency on a MAC and familiarity with PowerPoint and Custom Show presentation programs are required. An understanding of the editorial product is also highly recommended for this position.
 
The Fashion Merchandising Director will report to the Associate Publisher of Marketing.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Participation in creative strategy meetings with sales and marketing management
  • Conceptualization and development of added-value and revenue generating programs including multi-platform marketing programs, promotional partnerships, advertorial sections, and advertiser events
  • Collaboration with sales staff to design and customize client-specific presentations
  • Presentation of existing marketing programs and customized concepts at client meetings and on calls with the sales staff
  • Management and execution of all elements of activated marketing programs in the above mentioned categories
  • Execution of large-scale programs, events, and fashion shows
  • Assistance on account problem solving
  • Management of the Senior Merchandising Manager
 
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years magazine marketing experience
  • Creative thinker with excellent strategizing skills
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with multi-platform marketing programs that include print, digital, event, promotional, and retail extensions
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
